We are seeking a POS Support Engineer to support and maintain the point-of-sale and forecourt technology environment across a network of fuel and convenience retail sites. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for keeping payment, POS, and forecourt systems running reliably, troubleshooting complex issues across the store technology stack, and automating routine operations. The environment is Windows-based today, with a planned migration of select endpoints to Linux (openSUSE) on the roadmap.

The ideal candidate has deep, practical experience supporting a retail POS environment and brings strong Power Shell scripting skills to automate maintenance, deployments, and diagnostics at scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for POS and forecourt systems across multiple retail/fuel sites, including register software, site controllers, payment terminals, and fuel-management platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues spanning POS applications, payment processing, network connectivity, and forecourt/dispenser integration.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve Power Shell scripts to automate endpoint configuration, software deployment, monitoring, log collection, and routine maintenance tasks.
  • Support Windows-based endpoints today and contribute to the planned migration of select endpoints to Linux (openSUSE), including testing, imaging, and configuration.
  • Manage and support payment terminal estates via terminal-management tooling, including configuration pushes, firmware/software updates, and device health monitoring.
  • Coordinate with vendors, payment processors, and internal teams to resolve escalations and implement changes.
  • Document configurations, procedures, and known-issue resolutions to build a reusable knowledge base.
  • Participate in on-call/after-hours support rotation as needed to minimize site downtime.
Required Qualifications (Hard Requirements)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting a POS environment (retail, convenience, or fuel).
  • Strong Power Shell scripting skills — able to write, maintain, and troubleshoot automation scripts independently.
  • Solid Windows endpoint administration and troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills across applications, OS, and network layers.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; able to document work and coordinate with vendors and site staff.
Preferred / Advantageous Experience
  • Direct experience with NCR Store Point or RPOS is a significant advantage.
  • NCR Retail Fuel Service (RFS).
  • Allied site controllers.
  • ACI payment stack — eSocket.

    POS, ConnectUP, and TMS.
  • Verifone payment terminals (M400, M425) and VHQ terminal management.
  • Exposure to Linux (openSUSE preferred) endpoint administration.
  • Petroleum/convenience-store retail domain experience, including EMV payment processing and forecourt integration.
Environment / Tech Stack
  • OS: Windows (current);
Linux openSUSE (planned migration for select endpoints)
  • Automation: Power Shell
What Success Looks Like

Within the first few weeks you'll be independently resolving POS and forecourt escalations, reducing manual maintenance effort through Power Shell automation, and contributing to the planning and testing of the Windows-to-Linux endpoint migration.
