Sr. Life Underwriter II

As a Sr. Life Underwriter II
, you will be responsible for underwriting new business life insurance policies within established monetary authority guidelines, in accordance with company policy and in compliance with applicable government regulations. You will assess and classify risks using established underwriting principles and ensure alignment with actuarial expectations.

This role requires a high level of technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal partners, agents, and applicants. The ideal candidate is a seasoned underwriting professional with deep industry knowledge and a commitment to delivering high-quality risk assessments.

• Underwrite new business life insurance applications within assigned authority limits and company guidelines.
• Apply risk classification principles consistently and accurately in alignment with actuarial expectations.
• Review medical and financial information, attending physician statements, inspection reports, and additional underwriting evidence.
• Ensure underwriting decisions comply with company policy as well as federal and state regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with agents and internal stakeholders to obtain necessary documentation and clarify underwriting requirements.
• Provide expert-level guidance on complex or borderline cases.
• Maintain strong working knowledge of underwriting practices, mortality trends, and industry changes.
• Document underwriting decisions clearly and thoroughly.
• Support continuous process improvements and training initiatives as needed.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of Life Underwriting experience required.
• Professional designations such as FLMI, FALU, and ASC preferred; candidates with demonstrated progress toward these certifications will also be considered.
• Strong analytical and decision making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage complex cases independently.
• Ability to work effectively with cross functional teams.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $95,000.00 - $ per year.
