SUMMARY

The Bilingual Behavioral Health Intervention Services (BHIS) Caseworker functions as a member of the Outreach team and partners with youth, families, and the treatment team to develop, implement, and achieve individualized treatment goals. The BHIS Caseworker provides services as outlined in the treatment plan as recommended by LPHA. Services are delivered primarily in clients' homes and community settings.

This position requires the ability to communicate fluently in English and the designated second language to provide direct services, coordinate care, and maintain effective relationships with clients, families, schools, and community partners. The Bilingual BHIS Caseworker delivers culturally and linguistically responsive services to reduce language barriers, improve engagement and access tocare, and support positive outcomes foryouth and families.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP

Reports to the BHIS Operations Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following:

  • Adheres to the philosophy, values, commitments and practices of the Sanctuary model in guiding the day-to-day interactions with clients, families and staff.
  • Respects and values individual differences and actively supports a culture that embraces diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Teaches and coaches the client and family, in both English and/or the designated second language, to enhance their functioning both within the family and the community.
  • Enhances and promotes communication, problem-solving, emotional regulation, anger management, and social skills.
  • Uses creative interventions to modify the psychological, behavioral, emotional, cognitive and social factors affecting clients’ functioning.
  • Translates or interprets basic program information, educational materials, and service coordination communications as appropriate and within agency policy. Utilizes qualified medical interpreters when required for clinical or legal matters beyond the employee's scope.
  • Maintains accurate and timely client documentation and records in accordance with agency requirements including, but not limited to, completing intake interview and paperwork, creating treatment plans with families, entering progress notes, and writing discharge summaries at the termination of services.
  • Maintains regular contact with referral sources, families, and other relevant parties, communicating in English and/or the designated second language as appropriate to meet client and family needs.
  • Attends all mandatory and scheduled meetings and trainings.
  • Maintains professional staff/client relationships and appropriate role and relationship boundaries.
  • Protects client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, state regulations, and agency policies.
  • Assists families in accessing community resources and services, including providing information in their preferred language and making appropriate referrals.
  • Transport clients to appointments or community activities, as needed. Employee must meet agency motor vehicle requirements.
  • Continues personal and professional growth.
  • Participates as an active member of the program team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
HOURS AND REMUNERATION

The duties and responsibilities of the Bilingual BHIS Services Caseworker will generally be performed within a forty-hour week. However, the needs of the program will dictate the Bilingual BHIS Caseworker’s hours of work. Remuneration will be in line with education, experience, and bilingual proficiency.
