Our Legal team provides Cardinal Health with strategic, proactive, practical, and cost-effective legal services aimed at protecting the organization's assets, operations, and reputation. We offer legal counsel across various domains including commercial, corporate securities, intellectual property, labor and employment, and regulatory law. Our team also manages all legal disputes, oversees outside counsel, and handles legal operations efficiently.

Job Summary

The Lead Legal Advisor serves as the main legal partner to division leaders within a business unit, offering expert guidance on various legal matters while helping to mitigate risks. This position entails reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements with external parties, safeguarding the business's interests, and ensuring compliance with legal standards. Additionally, the Lead Legal Advisor evaluates external communications for legal compliance and collaborates with various internal teams to resolve legal issues seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional client service, advising division leaders on legal inquiries related to contract compliance and confidentiality, while estimating project costs for business leaders.
  • Draft and establish initial formats and terms for commercial agreements, facilitating negotiations with customers and vendors.
  • Engage with external parties to negotiate favorable agreement terms, advising business leaders on best practices for acceptance or rejection of external terms.
  • Review all terms and amendments from external parties, effectively managing the negotiation process for commercial agreements.
  • Verify compliance of all marketing and public relations communications regarding product information and messaging.
  • Identify legal issues outside of commercial law and connect with relevant Legal and Compliance teams for resolution.
  • Act as a proactive partner, identifying potential legal risks and suggesting strategies for risk mitigation aligned with business objectives.
  • Serve as the main expert for the business in litigation cases, collaborating closely with the Litigation team.
  • Advise business unit leaders regarding terms, risks, and due diligence during mergers and acquisitions.

Qualifications

  • 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred
  • License to practice law in Ohio or in the jurisdiction in which you reside and work

Anticipated salary range: $123,400-$176,100
