Position Summary

The Vice President of Supply Chain will bring an innovative approach to planning, scheduling, logistics, inventory and procurement resulting in a level of responsiveness that gives Red Boot a competitive advantage. This role will provide strategic direction, oversee performance metrics, and implement best practices to optimize our supply chain operations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes a comprehensive supply chain strategy that supports the company’s business goals and growth initiatives.
  • Oversees all aspects of the supply chain, including vendor selection, contract negotiations, inventory management, and distribution logistics.
  • Oversees accurate demand forecasting and planning processes to ensure supply meets demand while minimizing costs, maximizing customer satisfaction, and aligning with sales trends and market conditions.
  • Drives optimization of inventory performance to balance company investment with production service level requirements.
  • Create inventory strategies with awareness of forecast volatility, factory space, product impact to business, and supply chain risks to optimize production capacity.
  • Actively participate in and lead cross-functional operational excellence initiatives and investigations into forward-thinking approaches such as build-to-order systems.
  • Evaluates existing suppliers based on risk, capabilities, business fit; continually refine established supplier selection criteria and key performance indicators.
  • Measures and reports on monthly demand plans, quarterly rolling forecasts and annual operating plans; prepare and implement strategies to address shortfalls.
  • Deploys and oversees supply chain risks management practices to ensure risk is mitigated as it relates to business interruption and supplier capabilities; identify and develop strategies to mitigate risk for single source suppliers.
  • Meets all Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements; participate in food safety meetings as required.
  • Cultivates and promotes a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations; identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions; participate in safety meetings as required.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, supply chain planning or related field (or combination of education and related experience).
  • APICS (or similar) Certification.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing environment with two (2) years’ leading staff.
  • Extensive experience working with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, capable of fostering strong internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently as well as in a team environment to attain personal, team and company goals.
  • Well-organized and skilled in time management, prioritization, scheduling, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Valid Iowa driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in business, supply chain or related field.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Work Expectations
  • This is a regular, full-time position with daily office hours onsite.
  • The ability to be available for work daily and extended hours as necessary.
  • Work is performed inside an office or manufacturing plant and outside in what may be adverse weather conditions.
  • The work environment can involve exposure to heat, cold, humidity, moving machinery, extreme noise, visual strain, confined spaces, fumes, odors, dust mists, and gases.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen.
