POSITION OVERVIEWThe Executive Director of Emergency Services will provide strategic and operational leadership across three Des Moines campuses, overseeing emergency services, quality and safety, staffing, patient experience, and financial performance. The role reports directly to the Market CNO and will lead and develop department leaders while driving improvements in workflow, patient flow, triage, and overall ED performance. The ideal candidate should have strong Level I Trauma Center experience
, be highly visible and collaborative, and possess a firm, confident leadership style.
- Active RN license in the state of Iowa
- MSN or other healthcare/business-related master’s degree
- Minimum 5 years of progressive hospital/clinical management experience
- Strong Emergency Department leadership experience
- Proven experience leading large, multi-campus operations
- Strong leadership, communication, and people-development skills
- Ability to manage quality, patient safety, staffing, operations, and performance improvement
- Strong ability to coach and support department/unit leaders
- Highly visible, confident, collaborative, and firm leadership style
- Ability to work effectively with physician leaders and cross-functional/inpatient teams
- Ability to take 24/7 responsibility and participate in an on-call rotation
- Nursing Leadership & Administration – Proven ability to lead nursing operations and clinical service lines.
- Hospital/Clinical Management – Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in a hospital, outpatient, or clinical environment.
- Emergency Services Operations – Experience managing Emergency Services and related nursing operations.
- Clinical Operations Management – Ability to oversee clinical services, standards of care, staffing plans, patient-care evaluation, and process improvement.
- Staff & Leadership Management – Experience managing leaders, setting goals, monitoring performance, providing feedback, mentoring, and developing staff.
- Strategic Planning – Ability to develop strategic plans, partnerships, and programs that support organizational growth.
