Machine Operator
As a Machine Operator, you will operate various machines such as lasers, CNC mills/lathes, Angle-masters, and Press Brakes to cut, fold, bend, drill, and mold steel. This steel is essential for the construction of catwalks, stairs, and other agricultural structures.
Responsibilities- Operate a minimum of at least 3 machines autonomously within the Des Moines LeMar Plant.
- Measure, check, and sign off on all parts ensuring they match production prints.
- Communicate with detailing, industrial engineer technicians, and others regarding prints, programming, tooling, and machine/equipment issues or improvements.
- Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, jib cranes, and other equipment to move, load, and unload raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Train others on machine controls, processes, and overall use.
- Proficiency in machine operation, including CNC, laser, press-brake, mills, and drills.
- Ability to read blueprints and production prints.
- Capability to operate forklifts and cranes.
- Experience in a steel manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read a tape measure.
Skills & Qualifications
- Off-line programming ability is ideal, though not required.

Work EnvironmentThis position operates on the 1st shift, from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, with additional hours on Fridays. The work environment is subject to seasonal temperature variations, with hot and humid conditions in the summer and cold conditions in the winter when working near open doors.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
