Packaging Team Lead

CompensationStarting salary of $22 per hour based on experience and a sign‑on bonus of $500.
ExpectationsWork as part of a packaging crew to coordinate overall post‑press operations during a designated shift. Achieve and maintain on‑time production performance, product quality, and accuracy standards while ensuring operational safety, including OSHA & EPA compliance, and fostering positive employee and customer relations.
Packaging Tasks- Provide hands‑on supervision of the following Packaging functions: production and shift scheduling.
- Supervise production during assigned shifts, including training, new‑hire onboarding, and addressing employee issues or concerns.
- Ensure inserting accuracy and integrity and that daily production is completed in a high‑quality, timely manner.
- Confirm accurate product staging.
- Perform hands‑on duties of a Packaging Operator as needed due to staff shortages, machine problems, or various unexpected workflow issues.
- Operate preprint management systems, inserter drive controls, and related reporting.
- Perform and verify inventory of strap, bottom‑wrap, and consumable parts and supplies.
- Assist the Manager/Assistant Manager with packaging reports and web portal data entry.
- Perform Packaging Operator training.
- Always work in a safe manner and consistently utilize required safety equipment to promote top‑of‑mind safety awareness.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Assist in leading safety compliance within the department, including accident investigations and follow‑up.
- Complete required annual OSHA safety training programs.
- Report work‑related injuries to the insurance carrier.
- Ensure all machine safety guards are installed, functioning properly, and in use.
- Immediately report any operational concerns, potential safety hazards, accidents, injuries, and near‑misses to packaging management.
- Provide timely and accurate information to management as required.
- Communicate equipment repairs and/or consumable materials to upper management.
- Communicate scheduling needs to all packaging supervisors and/or packaging management.
- Other duties as assigned.
