Production Supervisor — Job Description

Role Summary

The Production Supervisor oversees daily manufacturing operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role includes hands‑on work such as equipment operation and forklift use, along with leadership responsibilities, quality control tasks, and coordination with other departments.

Core Responsibilities

• Supervise production employees by assigning tasks, monitoring performance, coaching, and supporting daily workflow.
• Operate forklifts and other material‑handling equipment to move raw materials, components, and finished goods.
• Perform quality control checks, including testing internal samples, documenting results, and ensuring products meet specifications.
• Maintain accurate production data using computer systems, spreadsheets, and manufacturing software.
• Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with maintenance, quality, and logistics teams to resolve production issues and support smooth operations.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to operate a forklift; certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Proficiency with computers, including email, spreadsheets, and production systems.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in food manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement practices.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and industrial best practices.
• Experience with quality systems, sample testing equipment, or lab‑style QC processes.
• Experience supervising employees in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience performing quality checks, testing samples, or working with QC procedures.
• Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and moving equipment.
