Camp Fire creates safe spaces where young people can have fun and be themselves. We do this through a variety of powerful youth experiences and programs including Community Clubs, Before- and After-School Care, Out-of-School Time Programs, Day and Overnight Camps, and Teen Leadership Development – collectively serving more than 1,500 central Iowa youth every year.
The Volunteer Engagement & Outreach VISTA will play a crucial role in recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers to support our programs benefiting low-income and other underserved youth. VISTA member will implement Camp Fire’s service enterprise action plan, developed by a diverse group of stakeholders, in order to more effectively utilize volunteers in all aspects of our organization. VISTA member will also participate in community outreach efforts to attract volunteers and supporters, develop strategic partnerships, and share the positive impact of Camp Fire’s mission and programs.
As the Volunteer Engagement & Outreach VISTA you will:
- Actively share the impact of volunteer service in order to recruit volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
- Develop and implement position‑specific descriptions, training and orientation for volunteers with systems for regular communication and supervision.
- Develop and implement a system of recognition and appreciation which demonstrates the impact and value of volunteers in our charitable work.
- Build and steward community partnerships with diverse stakeholders by attending events, collaborating with partners, and communicating the impact of Camp Fire programs.
