Hospice Volunteer Coordinator position summary

The Coordinator of Volunteer Services plans the volunteer program for the integrated Hospice and Home Health agency and participates in strategic planning efforts for volunteer recruitment. Also provides functional supervision of volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Mandatory BA in Healthcare Social Sciences or related field, or comparable experience.
  • One year supervisory experience in healthcare, preferably in a Hospice environment.
  • Two years work experience with volunteer programs preferred.
  • Ability to work in team setting.
  • Familiarity with principles related to death and dying.
  • Commitment to the philosophy and policies of Hospice care.
  • Current motor vehicle driving license.
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate commitment to the mission and Organizational Code of Ethics and adhere to the Compliance Program.

Essential functions
  • Ensures the appropriate Human Resource programs are supporting and sustaining growth. Programs include recruiting, employing and retaining qualified individuals to maintain staffing levels, staff development, safety, compliance, and employee relations.
  • Develops policies and procedures related to the operation of the Volunteer Program.
  • Responsible for coordination of Volunteer Training Program and assignment of volunteers into patient care, clerical and community education.
  • Ensures all volunteers are screened per organizational policy and procedure.
  • Ensures all volunteers are oriented and trained in compliance with CHAP and organizational policies.
  • Responsible for coordinating, assigning and assuming office responsibilities as related to volunteer program.
  • Works with management to ensure volunteer participation in all aspects of hospice program.
