Role Description

The Donor Relations Manager – Major Giving is a full-time, on-site role based in Des Moines, IA. This position is responsible for managing and growing relationships with major donors, including identifying prospects, cultivating connections, and securing significant contributions to support Iowa Public Radio’s mission. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and executing donor outreach, preparing proposals and impact reports, coordinating donor meetings and events, and maintaining accurate donor records.

The role collaborates with internal teams to align fundraising initiatives with programming priorities and organizational goals, while ensuring an excellent donor experience and consistent stewardship.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in Donor Relations and Donor Management, including cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts.
  • Knowledge of Annual Giving practices and broader Philanthropy principles, with the ability to support a comprehensive fundraising strategy.
  • Strong Project Management skills to plan, execute, and evaluate donor campaigns, events, and initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare compelling donor materials and deliver persuasive presentations.
  • Ability to build and sustain long-term relationships with donors, community partners, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency with CRM or donor database systems and basic office software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as communications, nonprofit management, marketing, or related discipline) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in public media, nonprofit fundraising, or community engagement is preferred.
