Responsibilities
  • Provide and coordinate nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process.
  • Complete documentation to ensure an accurate record of patient care.
  • Use critical thinking in making independent judgments and maintain responsibility for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other professionals in planning and implementing care within hospital policy and legal limitations.
  • Assess needs of patients and families, provide appropriate teaching to facilitate discharge planning, and make the necessary referrals to community agencies to provide continuity of care.
  • Demonstrate professional development by keeping abreast of current nursing practice and healthcare trends.
  • Use a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area.
  • Delegate patient care based on clinical assessment and within scope of practice.
  • Consistently meet the department work schedule.
  • Consistently deliver high quality care demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills of the specialty required on the assigned unit in accordance with established policies and procedures and standards of care.
  • Demonstrate initiative to improve quality of care, patient and employee safety, and customer service.
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities, participate in peer review, seek involvement in organizational initiatives and committees.
Qualifications Education
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
License(s)/Certification(s)
  • Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
Other
  • Level 3 Medium Work:
    Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
