RN​/LPN Part-Time Assisted Living Des Moines, Iowa

Luther Park Community is seeking a Part-time RN/LPN Nurse Supervisor to join our team. This position will work 24 hours per week and be part of the on-call rotation.

The RN/LPN Nurse Supervisor provides nursing care for general assisted living and memory care residents for the Gardens at Luther Park Community and helps supervise the nursing staff. The RN/LPN Nurse Supervisor will be knowledgeable of all state and federal laws, rules and regulations applicable to assisted living. The individual works with the Manager of Health Services to provide a physical, social and psychological environment conducive to maintaining the highest level of independent function and well-being for all residents of the program.

• Help maintain adequate staffing 24/7 to meet the needs of the residents
• Help fill nursing staff shifts
• Communicate with family members regarding the condition and progress of the resident including in-person and telephone discussions where appropriate.
• Ensure the facility operates in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations
• Provide leadership and direction to all nursing staff
• Receive and follow up on faxes and help with completing medication changes
• Participate in on-call rotation
• Assist with and submit records and documentation as required by internal policies, state and federal rules, regulations and laws for assisted living facilities. Make sure incident reports are completed on time and followed up on.
• Participate in continuing education to maintain credentials and increase expertise
• Doing 30 and 90 day assessments that are needed within the needed time
• Help with monthly change over
• Do monthly MAR audits
• Documentation for each resident regarding any changes, things that are occurring and conversations with families
• Being able to be on call when needed and able to address issues that come up after hours when staff reach out for nursing advise
• Follow up daily on acute assessments with residents

• Possess an active registered RN/LPN license in compliance with Iowa Board of Nursing requirements and standards
• Must be able to pass a background check and post offer physical, drug screen and TB test
• 1 year of experience with assisted living or long-term care programs is preferred
• Knowledge of MSOffice products including Word, Excel and Outlook
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from residents, family members, staff, regulatory agencies or members of the business community
• Possess initiative, good judgment and leadership ability to work well with the community, residents, families and staff.
• Possess understanding and compassion for our elderly population
• Ability to build effective working relationships with people of all backgrounds
