Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) Jobs – Night Shift 13-Week Contract | Des Moines, IA 50309

Join a fast-paced Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) unit as a Travel Registered Nurse (RN) on 12-hour night shifts in Des Moines, Iowa (50309)—a welcoming area with a lively city feel, great local dining, and plenty to explore on your time off.

• Estimated Weekly Pay Range: $2,020–$2,130/week

• Location: Des Moines, IA 50309 – Iowa travel nursing contract
• Start Date: 03/16/2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (through 06/15/2026)
• Schedule: Night shift; 3 shifts/week (3x12)
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Hours per Week: 36 hours/week (3x12)
• Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Usually every other/holiday rotation -- flexible depending on Dept. needs
• Floating: Required to float across campuses to like units
• Charting System / EMR: Epic
• Unit Snapshot: 22 beds; typical ratio 5:1; general Med/Surg patient population; drips include Heparin; scrubs:
  Navy Blue

• RN License: Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate RN license (active at time of submission)
• Experience: 2+ years (24 months) recent Med/Surg (Medical-Surgical) and/or Telemetry RN experience
• Travel Nursing Experience: Prior travel assignment experience within the past 18 months
• Certification: Current BLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
• Epic EMR: Epic experience required
• De-escalation Training: Highly preferred (MAB, MOAB, CPI, or SAMA) — may be completed during onboarding if needed
• Compliance Documents: Med/Surg skills checklist; work history/resume; required verification documents as requested during onboarding

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult Medical-Surgical patients, including focused assessment, monitoring, and timely interventions.
• Administer medications and manage ordered therapies, including monitoring patients receiving drips such as Heparin.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient progression, discharge planning, and patient/family education.
• Document accurately and in real time in Epic, and communicate changes in patient condition promptly.
• Float to like units across campuses as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care and clinical support.
• Promote a calm, therapeutic environment using de-escalation techniques and patient-centered communication.
