Travel RN - Operating Room

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level I Trauma Center position requiring at least 24 months of OR experience, Epic proficiency, and the ability to both scrub and circulate across multiple service lines.

Job Details

• 16-suite OR department at a Level I Trauma Center, routinely running 12-14 rooms with dedicated space reserved for trauma cases,

• Service lines include Cardiac/Peripheral Vascular, Neuro, Ortho (primarily trauma), Robotics, Gyn, Uro, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Transplants, and limited ENT and Plastics,

• Specialized equipment includes 3 Da Vinci robotic systems, Stealth technology for neuro navigation, and Synthes/Stryker instrumentation for ortho trauma,

• 1:1 patient ratio with an average of 35-50 cases per day; turnover expectation is under 20 minutes,

• Both scrubbing and circulating are expected,

• Schedule is Mon-Fri, 6:30a-5:00p, 4x10-hour shifts with a rotating day off,

• On-call commitment of up to 1 overnight per week and 3 weekends per 13-week contract; weekend call runs from Friday at 5:00p through Monday at 6:30a,

• Holiday rotation required; summer holiday coverage requires working 1-2 of 3 (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day),

• Floating required across multiple campuses within the same health system,

• Scrubs are provided by the facility,

• EMR:
Epic (experience required within the previous 3 years),

Job Requirements

• Active Iowa (IA) or compact/multistate RN license required,

• Active AHA BLS certification required,

• Minimum 24 months of recent OR experience required,

• Circulating experience required; scrub experience highly preferred,

• Required case experience:
General Surgery, Da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma,

• Preferred case experience:
Neurology, Orthopedics, Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, and ENT,

• Trauma Level II experience required;
Trauma Level I experience highly preferred,

• Epic EMR experience within the previous 3 years required,

• Valid driver's license required for consideration,

• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment within the previous 15 months - first-time travelers will not be considered,

• Supervisory performance evaluation or professional reference from within the past 2 years required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Responsibilities span the full perioperative scope, including both scrub and circulate roles across a high-volume, multi-specialty OR,

• Candidates who were employed by this facility within the previous 12 months may not be eligible for this position,

• RTO is limited to 1 day during the Thanksgiving holiday week (11/26-11/30) and 1 day during the winter holiday period (12/23-1/2), regardless of holidays worked
