Travel RN - Operating Room

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level I Trauma Center with multi-service line scrub and circulate responsibilities, requiring prior travel assignment experience and Epic proficiency.

Job Details

• Fast-paced hospital OR environment with 16 operating suites, routinely running 12-14 rooms,

• Level I Trauma Center with dedicated trauma suite capacity,

• Service lines include Cardiac/Peripheral Vascular, Neuro, Ortho (primarily trauma), Robotics, Gyn, Uro, General, Pediatrics, Transplants, and low-volume ENT and Plastics,

• Patient ratio is 1:1,

• Average caseload of 35-50 cases per day with an expectation of turnovers under 20 minutes,

• Facility utilizes 3 Da Vinci robots, Stealth technology for neuro navigation, and primarily Synthes or Stryker for ortho trauma,

• Both scrubbing and circulating are expected,

• Weekend call runs from end of shift Friday through 6:30 AM Monday,

• Charting via Epic EMR,

• Scrubs are provided by the facility,

• Floating required across multiple campuses (Iowa Methodist MC and Iowa Lutheran),

Job Requirements

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate RN license required,

• Current AHA or ARC BLS certification required,

• Minimum 24 months of recent OR experience required,

• Circulating experience required; scrub experience highly preferred,

• Experience in General, Da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases required,

• Experience in Neuro, Ortho (trauma), Gyn, Uro, Transplants, Plastics, and ENT cases highly preferred,

• Trauma Level II experience required;
Trauma Level I experience highly preferred,

• Epic EMR experience within the previous 3 years required,

• Valid driver's license required,

• Candidates must have completed at least one travel assignment within the previous 15 months - first-time travelers will not be considered,

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include both scrubbing and circulating across multiple OR service lines,

• A supervisory performance evaluation or professional reference from within the past 2 years is preferred for consideration,

• Candidates who were employed by this facility within the 12 months prior to application may not be eligible,

• Holiday coverage is required: travelers must work 1-2 of the following summer holidays - Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day - unless the unit is closed,

• RTO during the Thanksgiving (11/26-11/30) and Winter Holiday (12/23-1/2) windows is limited to 1 day regardless of holidays worked
