Unit Based Educator – Blank Pediatric and Women’s Health ClinicsThe Unit Based Educator plays a vital role in advancing clinical excellence by leading orientation and ongoing education for pediatric and women’s services team members. This position partners closely with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary education teams to support, influence, and enhance the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centered care at the unit level.
This role is responsible for assessing learning needs and designing innovative, evidence‑based education programs for nursing and surgical team members. Through hands‑on training, mentorship, and collaboration, the Unit Based Educator drives professional development, strengthens clinical competencies, and contributes to improved patient outcomes and safety. The ideal candidate is passionate about education, committed to continuous improvement, and skilled at empowering teams to deliver exceptional care.
Responsibilities- Collaborates with nursing leadership and education professionals to coordinate, influence, and assist with the implementation of nursing care and related nursing activities at the nursing unit level in designated department(s) in Blank Pediatric Clinics.
- Assesses, develops and implements orientation and education programs for department staff to positively impact the quality of patient care.
- Collaborates with physicians, directors and managers, and other health care workers to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care while maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
- Successful performance contributes to a holistic approach to the delivery of services, improved patient care, and a high level of satisfaction from the healthcare team.
- Education – Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- License(s)/Certification(s) – Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
- Experience – Two years of experience in pediatrics.
- Level 2;
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, pushing or pulling arm or leg controls or maintaining a production rate pace. Light work requires physical exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work.
