Overview
Clinical Team Leader
- Surgery (RN) – Join the Surgical Services team at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center with 16 operating rooms and a wide range of surgical services including but not limited to cardiac, transplant, orthopedics, plastics, general surgery, pediatrics, neurosurgery, urology, gynecology, ENT and vascular surgery. As a Clinical Team Leader (RN), you’ll provide perioperative care to patients from neonates to geriatrics while collaborating with OR leadership to coordinate staffing, supplies, and instrumentation for assigned specialties.
You’ll work closely with surgeons and interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, while supporting a professional practice environment grounded in the ANA Code of Ethics and UnityPoint Health’s nursing model.
Monday – Friday | 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM with on‑call rotation.
Responsibilities- Coordinates and assists manager/supervisor with daily operations of speciality team.
- Contributes to the maintenance of high quality, cost effective patient care by communicating with scheduling, physicians and team members regarding upcoming procedures.
- Provides clinical leadership by directing, coordinating and delegating patient care in an organized manner, allowing for flexibility and growth of team members.
- Acts as an interdepartmental liaison promoting effective teamwork.
- Evaluates and coaches team members relative to job performance to achieve a high level of productivity and quality care.
- Provides input regarding team members performance to supervisors/ managers.
- Acts as a liaison between physicians and sales representatives to ensure hospital and department policy is followed.
- Actively participates in value analysis. Acts as a mentor and resource to educate team members and physicians on the concepts and philosophies of value purchasing.
- Assess the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate teaching and making necessary referrals to provide continuity of care.
- Develops an individual plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient/family and health care team.
- Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or Iowa Board of Nursing approved nursing program.
- Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
- Three years of operating room experience.
- Level 3 Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. - On-Call:
Ability to participate in on-call shifts and respond within 30 minutes when called in.
