Job Overview

Position:
Specialty Nurse RN – OB/GYN Clinic, Des Moines, IA.

Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:15 AM – 5:15 PM (4 days per week). Full‑time.

Department: OB/GYN – Methodist Plaza – DM.

FTE: 1.0.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including assessments, education, and triage in an OB/GYN setting.
  • Support providers with in‑office procedures such as colposcopies, IUD insertions, and biopsies.
  • Administer medications and injections, including vaccines and hormone therapies, as prescribed.
  • Assist with prenatal care, postpartum follow‑ups, and routine gynecologic visits.
  • Educate patients about reproductive health, pregnancy, contraception, and preventive care.
  • Triage patient phone calls and messages, assess urgency, and coordinate appropriate follow‑up.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Ensure compliance with all clinical policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with front desk and administrative staff to ensure smooth patient flow and scheduling.
  • Participate in ongoing staff education, quality improvement initiatives, and team meetings.
Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Iowa (required).
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong interest or experience in women's health.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast‑paced clinic environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to float to other UnityPoint Clinic locations if needed.
