American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg travel position in Des Moines, IA, requiring 24 months of Med/Surg experience and Epic EMR proficiency.

• Inpatient Med/Surg unit within a multi-campus hospital system
• 30-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Patient population includes post-op hip/knee replacements, mastectomies, and abdominal surgeries
• Drip experience required: PCA and heparin
• Epic EMR used on the unit
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Every 3rd weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required across campuses and like units (Iowa Methodist MC and Iowa Lutheran)

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate RN license required at time of consideration
• Current AHA or ARC BLS certification required
• Minimum 24 months of recent Med/Surg experience in a hospital or medical center setting
• Experience with PCA and heparin drips required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Post-op surgical experience highly preferred
• Experience with hip/knee, mastectomy, and abdominal surgery patients highly preferred
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within the past 24 months preferred

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Holiday rotation required — candidates must be available to work 1-2 of the following summer holidays:
  Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day (unless the unit is closed)
• Candidates who have been employed by this health system as an FTE or PRN (including float pool) within the past 12 months are not eligible, regardless of which facility within the system they worked at
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible to apply
• The unit has an emotional support canine on site
