At Blank Children’s Hospital, our Pediatric Emergency Department specializes in caring for children from birth through age 17
, offering a level of expertise, compassion, and teamwork that truly sets us apart. As the first Level II Pediatric Trauma Center in the state
, verified by the American College of Surgeons, we are equipped and ready to manage everything from everyday childhood injuries to the most complex emergencies.

We know children’s emergencies affect the entire family, and nurses play a critical role in supporting both the child and their caregivers. In our department, parents are empowered partners in the care plan. You’ll build trust, provide reassurance, and help guide families through highly stressful experiences — all while delivering exceptional clinical care.

Our newly constructed Pediatric ED is built to give nurses the modern tools and environment they need to excel. The department features:

• 12 full‑service treatment rooms
• 6 express care exam rooms for efficient evaluation of lower‑acuity needs
• Advanced, state-of-the-art equipment for pediatric-specific emergency and trauma care
• Dedicated trauma capabilities as a designated Pediatric Level II Trauma Center

Every detail — from room design to technology — supports safety, efficiency, and child‑friendly, family-centered care.

As part of our multidisciplinary team, you’ll collaborate with:

• Pediatric emergency physicians
• Registered Nurses with pediatric expertise
• Child Life specialists
• Social workers
• Pediatric subspecialists across Blank Children’s Hospital

Together, we deliver the highest level of coordinated care, ensuring every child receives comprehensive support from arrival to discharge.
