Quality Assurance Manager (Des Moines, IA)
We are hiring a candidate who has quality supervision experience in a regulated environment. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all customer, federal, and state regulatory requirements while driving a strong safety and continuous improvement culture at the plant level. The ideal candidate has a responsive, collaborative communication style and strategic problem‑solving abilities.
The position oversees QA and sanitation teams, manages audits and regulatory interactions, and ensures effective execution of GMPs, safety plans, and quality systems. It is a highly visible leadership role that partners cross‑functionally with operations, R&D, and regulatory agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provides direct support, leadership and direction to quality technicians and sanitation staff in a 24‑hour facility.
- Maintains and improves product quality by completing product and compliance audits, investigating consumer complaints, and collaborating with other members of management to resolve issues.
- Maintains the safety aspect of the plant by periodically performing internal audits of the facility to verify that procedures are being adhered to. This includes GMPs, Sanitation, and Food Safety Plans.
- Ensures that all preventative measures as outlined in the Food Safety plan are executed, monitored, and reviewed to include CAPA actions.
- Ensures that all appropriate metrics and KPIs are measured, tracked, and trended. Maintains fiscal responsibility for the department budget.
- Maintains all aspects of the Quality Assurance Laboratory, including microbiological, chemical, physical, and sensory aspects of all food products manufactured at this facility.
- Acts as plant liaison in dealings with regulatory agencies and customer company representatives and auditors.
- Works cooperatively and cross‑functionally to drive continuous improvement efforts.
- 5+ years in manufacturing QA and 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Bachelor of Science degree highly preferred.
- HACCP and PCQI Certification is a plus.
- Strong leadership, team building, motivation and collaboration skills are required.
- Ability to prioritize, be decisive, communicate effectively, and possess basic computer skills. Data analysis is a plus.

Why's, Fishbone Diagrams, etc.) are strongly desired. - Ability to be reasonably flexible and available to work alternate shifts, early/late hours, weekends, or split shifts as operational needs require.

Salary: $105,000 - $120,000 annually, plus bonus opportunity.
