JOB OPENING – Quality Engineer – Des Moines

Walsh Door & Security is seeking a Quality Engineer to be a part of the team at our Des Moines location. The Quality Engineer is responsible for establishing quality assurance processes that protect the customer and ensure operational accuracy. This role coordinates with all manufacturing and logistics departments and associated resources to ensure that we meet or exceed customer quality expectations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Quality Department to support overall business growth and operational excellence.
  • Establish and maintain a strong quality culture focused on prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear expectations, priorities, and performance goals.
  • Implement and maintain inspection strategies, control plans, and risk‑based quality control for a variety of products and processes.
  • Act as the organization’s primary authority for quality related decisions impacting product, process, and customer commitments.
  • Provide leadership in resolving complex or high‑impact challenges, such as escalated customer issues or supplier issues. (Participate in implementing solutions… not just identifying problems.)
  • Collaborate with Distribution, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to ensure quality strategies are aligned with company objectives for manufacturing, supplied products, and customer expectations.
  • Lead staffing efforts for the quality team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management, to develop and sustain a strong, high‑performing team.
  • Provide recommendations for facilities improvements or expansions related to quality, focusing on safety, efficiency, and compliance.
Job Requirements
  • A degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Industrial Technology or a related field—or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • A proven track record of organization, communication, and follow‑through.
  • Proven record of effective execution in quality control and management.
  • A strong, dependable work ethic and high personal accountability.
  • Flexibility and a positive, solutions‑oriented attitude when priorities shift.
  • Comfortable and effective as a change agent, with experience leading organizational transformations.
  • Professionalism, courtesy, and strong interpersonal skills when dealing with both customers and internal teams.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification.
  • Experience implementing ISO 9001.
