The Environmental Specialist position with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Air Quality Bureau implements and manages the state ambient air monitoring network. The role oversees ambient air monitoring contracts, develops quality assurance procedures, analyzes air quality data for EPA compliance, and responds to pollution exceedances. This position is located in Des Moines and reports to the DNR.
Key qualifications- Bachelor s degree in natural science from an accredited college or university
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand ambient air monitoring regulations and quality assurance procedures
- Capability to perform statistical analysis of air monitoring data and prepare professional reports
- Strong written and oral communication skills with staff, clients, stakeholders, and the public
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to change and work pressures
