Retail Sales Associate - Seasonal

About the Retail Sales Associate position

All Spice is looking for a seasonal Retail Sales Associate to join our Des Moines East Village team. Responsibilities include answering customer questions, helping customers find the products they are looking for, checking customers out, stocking shelves, and light cleaning.

Seasonal positions run from mid-November through late December. Candidates must have weekend availability. Hours per week are typically 6-20 depending on availability and need.

Retail Sales Associates (a.k.a. All Spicers) are the All Spice experience.

• Interact with customers in person and over the phone, answering basic questions and guiding them to product locations on the sales floor
• Manage transactions with customers using computer-based point of sale software
• Cross-sell products and introduce customers to new ones
• Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information
• Greet customers when entering or leaving the store
• Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas and sales floor
• Track transactions on balance sheets and report any discrepancies
• Bag packages box or gift-wrap packages
• Handle merchandise returns and exchanges
• Check in products and stock shelves

• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with customers from a variety of backgrounds
• Basic computer skills (Apple experience preferred)
• Basic math skills
• Work experience as a retail cashier or in a similar role in sales preferred
• Basic knowledge of and interest in cooking
• Strong time management skills
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to lift at least 15 lbs.
