Summary
The Assistant Manager assists and consults the Store Manager on overall operations and administrative duties, including determining methods and approaches necessary to accomplish the store’s goals. The Assistant Manager is knowledgeable in each product area or department, upholds policies and procedures, and is passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and promoting merchandise.
In the Store Manager’s absence, the Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control, is trained in Store Manager responsibilities, and ensures store profitability through inventory, sales, and expense monitoring.

Hourly: $14.70 - $14.70
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
- Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
- Assist in overall personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
- Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and stay trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
- Deliver extraordinary customer service, e.g., helping customers during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett I City Gear.
- Practice and uphold all company policies, procedures, and standards as listed in various manuals.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal controls.
Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence. Carry out supervisory duties in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.
Qualifications- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1-3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and keeping up with overall goals and profits.
- Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without prompting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
- Team-player, passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
