Role Overview

GSK is a global biopharma company focused on infectious diseases. The Vaccine Account Manager (VAM) owns B2B relationships across large healthcare delivery networks, engaging C/D level clinical and non‑clinical stakeholders to deliver customized value propositions and achieve sales growth.

Position Summary

The VAM manages key accounts in integrated delivery networks, collaborates with field teams, and ensures optimal patient access to vaccines through contract negotiations and formulary processes.

Responsibilities Strategic Account Development and Management
  • Build partnerships with large‑organized customers including health systems, public awardees, and FQHCs.
  • Identify customer objectives and align vaccination efforts.
  • Develop customer‑specific business plans to achieve Good Selling Outcomes (GSO).
  • Navigate complex organizational structures to advance vaccine access, formulary status, and stocking.
  • Work with public sector decision makers to advance immunization efforts.
  • Manage key accounts through business reviews, contract discussions, education programs, and conferences.
Sales Excellence & Revenue Generation
  • Achieve or exceed customer‑specific targets such as volume, IZ rates, market share, and annual sales targets for the vaccine portfolio.
  • Define and meet customer‑specific objectives and KPIs.
  • Support the contracting process with Contracting Specialists.
  • Execute consultative selling processes to position vaccines.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Act as “quarterback” of VBU needs and coordinate with sales leadership.
  • Support vaccination programs across channels and digital platforms.
  • Partner with internal teams (Contracting Specialists, OPAS/HSDs, Medical Affairs, Marketing) to offer resources and present vaccine value.
  • Collaborate with Market Access to address coverage, reimbursement, and contracting.
Clinical & Scientific Expertise
  • Develop expertise in vaccines, disease states, immunization guidelines, and competitive landscape.
  • Provide evidence‑based education to healthcare professionals on efficacy, safety, and administration.
  • Stay current with CDC guidelines, medical society recommendations, and health quality metrics.
Market Intelligence & Analysis
  • Analyze account performance, market trends, and competitive activities.
  • Provide market feedback on positioning and pricing.
Administrative & Compliance
  • Maintain detailed customer interaction records in CRM systems.
  • Complete required training, certifications, and compliance modules.
  • Ensure promotional activities comply with regulations and company policies.
Success Metrics & Key Performance Indicators
  • Annual sales target achievement at customer and territory level.
  • Stakeholder mapping completion and decision‑maker access.
  • Other metrics defined by the organization (IZ rates, market shares, contract performance).
  • Field and account coverage metrics.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales, marketing, payer and/or business development.
  • Account management and/or vaccine experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Travel required up to 50%.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in business, public health, hospital administration or similar.
  • Previous vaccine sales experience.
  • Deep knowledge of contracting in the healthcare industry.
  • Expertise in the vaccines marketplace, GSK, competitive portfolios, and customers.
  • Deep knowledge of health systems business model and stakeholder roles.
  • Experience calling on C/D level within large, complex networks.
  • Experience with lateral leadership in a matrixed organization.
Key Skills/Competencies
  • Advanced business acumen and analytical skills to diagnose opportunities.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to translate strategy to local business and account plans.
  • Impact and influence with other sales leaders to mobilize action plans.
