What You’ll Do
In this multifaceted role you will support internal sales efforts for Principal Securities by developing and implementing sales plans, activity reports, and presale/post‑sale advisor support. You’ll collaborate with marketing, product, and communications teams to align campaigns and support financial‑professional relationships while meeting internal sales targets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing intermediaries with sales ideas, handling product inquiries, sharing performance data, identifying new opportunities, and supporting external wholesalers with territory management.
- Initiating and following up on sales calls to develop relationships with financial professionals, representing a diverse range of products including Mutual Funds, model portfolios, ETFs, SMAs, Index Funds, alternative investments, and retirement solutions.
- Determining client requirements, offering sales suggestions, responding to product inquiries, delivering performance information, and introducing new products.
- Recording call outcomes in the database, sharing leads with external wholesalers, and assisting corporate programs, important accounts, and conferences.
- Responding to incoming calls from new or existing financial professionals by offering product details, performance statistics, and case design.
- Handling requests for sales materials and account proposals.
- Guiding financial professionals to resources such as websites, wholesaler maps, newsletters, and product training.
- Supporting communication for enhanced customer service solutions and recording all interaction and communication outcomes in CRM (Sales Force).
Incentive component is 50% of base salary, in addition to the salary listed.
Who You AreBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience plus at least 1 year of financial services and broker dealer experience is required. Strong preference for advisory or fee‑based managed product experience and for experience with Envestnet, Morningstar Advisor Workstation, and turn‑key asset management platforms (TAMP).
Other key qualifications:
- Outstanding oral and written communication, training, and presentation skills.
- Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and mathematical calculation skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Availability to handle inbound and outbound calls to advisors, third‑party money managers, and sales reps during prime hours.
- Limited travel, including overnight stays, may be required.
- Licenses must be held in conformity with state and federal rules and company standards. Preference to those who are already licensed. If not licensed, SIE, Series 7, and Series 66 must be acquired within 90 days after hiring.
Salary Range (Non‑Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly): $55,800 – $87,600 per year

- Wichita, KS: $55,800 – $65,700 per year
- Des Moines, IA: $58,900 – $69,350 per year
- Charlotte, NC: $62,000 – $73,000 per year
- Chicago/Minneapolis: $68,200 – $80,300 per year
- Los Angeles/New York City: $74,400 – $87,600 per year
Non‑sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance.
BenefitsTime Off Program:
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short‑term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
