Business Development Agronomist – Key Accounts
Location:
Midwest (Sioux Falls, SD; Des Moines, IA; Minneapolis–St. Paul, MN; or Omaha, NE)
We're seeking an outgoing, agronomically credible Business Development Agronomist to support our Key Account team in driving growth across specialty fertilizers and biologicals. In this customer-facing role, you'll build trusted relationships with R&D and agronomy stakeholders, lead new product launch planning, and translate field trial data into compelling ROI stories that accelerate adoption. Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in agronomy or technical sales within crop inputs, strong presentation skills, and a consultative, data-driven approach to customer engagement.
What you'll do:
- Partner with Key Account Managers to grow specialty fertilizer and biologicals penetration
- Build relationships with customer R&D, agronomy, and technical services teams
- Lead go-to-market planning for new product launches (positioning, trials, training)
- Design and interpret field trials, translating results into ROI narratives
- Create sales enablement tools (talk tracks, tech sheets, competitive positioning)
- Present at customer meetings, field days, and industry events
- Identify new pipeline opportunities across crops, geographies, and segments
What you bring:
- 5+ years in agronomy, technical sales, or product development within crop inputs
- Credibility with technical audiences and ability to influence through data
- Solid grasp of field research design and trial interpretation
- Strong business acumen linking product performance to customer economics
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and CRM tools
- Valid driver's license and travel flexibility
Nice to have:
- Bachelor's in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or related field
- Experience with specialty fertilizers or biologicals
- Background supporting key accounts or strategic distributor relationships
- Experience developing technical sales/training programs
