Job Description Summary
Providing a safe, secure environment for the workforce and visitors is essential. The Security team monitors security needs and assists associates with safety-related issues. Key Responsibilities- Greets all persons entering or calling the office buildings and provides requested information.
- Enforces company security and life safety policies.
- Responds to emergency situations such as workplace violence, medical emergencies, fires, and alarms.
- Assists with emergency procedures and may direct public safety officials.
- Patrols the buildings to provide physical security and safety protection.
- Responds immediately to radio calls to investigate alarms and emergencies.
- May patrol the campus on bike, foot, or in car.
- Acts to protect lives and property and prevent criminal acts.
- Provides a high level of customer contact and may approach suspicious persons.
- Writes initial loss/stolen or incident reports.
- Conducts follow-up investigations, including reviewing documents, video, and talking with suspects and victims.
- Assists management with investigation of these situations.
- Testifies in court, prepares reports, and preserves evidence as needed.
- Maintains the facilities access control system by card key.
- Secures facilities at the end of the workday and maintains secure mode until reopened.
- Operates the access control system, creates access cards, and generates system reports.
- Provides escorts to and from facilities.
- Assists with regular building facility inspections of fire extinguishers, standpipe systems, PA systems, elevators, and fire alarms.
- May carry a firearm when on duty, qualifying at least annually.
- May be required to obtain a concealed carry permit depending on assignment.
- Provides security awareness and new hire training to associates.
- Performs courier services to financial institutions for Nationwide Companies.
- Monitors electronic protection systems: alarms, CCTV, access control, fire, elevator, intercom, etc.
- Dispatches security, public safety, or other personnel to alarm conditions across the country from the monitoring center.
- Maintains databases within these systems and provides reports.
- Monitors alarm systems across the country.
- Maintains and troubleshoots hardware and software systems.
- Provides database and activity reports based on alarm activity.
- Directs vendors during the install process.
- Communicates frequently with end users for training and problem resolution.
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reports to Security Supervisor. This is an individual contributor role.
Typical Skills and Experiences- Education: High school diploma required; bachelor’s or technical degree preferred.
- Experience: At least one year of related security experience.

Skills:
• Proven knowledge of corporate safety and security practices, procedures, equipment, firearm, and console operation.
• Ability to learn and qualify with firearms annually.
• Personal computer skills and strong verbal and written communication.
• Good judgment, de-escalation, and calm, rational direction.
• Leadership, competency, and experience may take precedence. - Staffing exceptions require approval by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.
The standard workday is 8 hours with a paid lunch period. Employees must work the specific shift (first, second, or third) and be available for emergency coverage after standard hours, including weekends and holidays. Physical requirements include walking, running, stooping, kneeling, carrying, and lifting. Eligible for overtime (non‑exempt). An ADA statement applies. A valid credit/background check and yearly criminal check are required.
This is a safety‑sensitive position that may require random alcohol and drug testing.
Starting pay: $50,000 + 10% shift differential. Salary range: $49,100.00 – $91,300.00. Expected starting range: $49,100.00 – $73,700.00.
