Mobile Diesel Technician Level II

We are currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II
. This role is responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The Technician II can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher and continues to learn additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques. A successful Technician II complies with all company policies and achieves high level performance metrics.

Duties
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, etc.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and confirm proper operation.
  • Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with and listen to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve their problems.
  • Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document work according to company standards, uploading pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings observed on Repair Orders (“RO”) using the company‑issued iOS device and the proprietary TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and all other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to most standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary.
  • Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
