Field Service Technician (Open)

Responsibilities
  • Installs and maintains nitrogen on‑site generation equipment.
  • Installs cryogenic bulk installations at Airgas facilities and customer sites.
  • Repairs pressure‑reduction equipment associated with bulk delivery systems.
  • Analyzes and makes general repairs to electrical systems associated with N2 generation and cryogenic installations, including motor controls, relays, low‑pressure, high‑pressure and liquid level alarm systems.
  • Installs decals and warning signs for hazard identification, ownership, normal operation, and emergency contacts.
  • Performs installation of piping systems in accordance with company SOPs.
  • Performs site surveys to assure compliance with all federal, state/provincial and local codes.
  • Ensures security fencing protects installations from tampering or unauthorized entry.
  • Performs periodic preventative maintenance tasks on N2 generation equipment based on the PM schedule.
  • Performs annual inspections of all bulk installation sites to assure condition and correct operation.
  • Adheres to and ensures that safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Maintains an appropriate stock of recommended parts necessary to repair typical installations within the assigned customer base.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of industrial field‑service experience, preferably in gas generation systems.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Clear and effective speaking manner for explaining information to customers and employees.
  • Ability to set goals and manage time to ensure timely completion of tasks and achievement of goals.
  • Demonstrated independent judgment and initiative for resolving problems and making recommendations; tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers; handling proprietary information.
  • Self‑motivation, enthusiasm, positive attitude, and teamwork skills.
  • Required to observe and assess information.
  • Frequent use of computer, telephone, and operation of a motor vehicle.
  • Required to move/transport materials weighing 25‑75 pounds with frequent bending, twisting and reaching motions.
  • Physical maneuvers requiring climbing stairs, ladders and truck beds.
  • Must work outdoors in a wide range of temperatures.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.
  • Reliable transportation; a service truck will be provided after initial training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Brazing Certificate (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment).
  • Detailed understanding of NFPA 99 and NFPA 55 requirements.
  • Understanding of cryogenic and high‑pressure gas hazards and related product containers and piping systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with cryogenic equipment, pressure piping, compressors, pumps, and troubleshooting system problems.
  • Working knowledge of welding and brazing processes (specifically silver brazing).
  • Ability to perform regulator repairs, pipe/liquid leak repairs, etc. is a plus.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies at facilities during operating hours; arrangements for emergency coverage are made when a technician is unavailable.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, MSDS, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
