Position SummaryThe HVAC Service Technician performs diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on residential and light commercial heating and cooling systems. This role requires mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, customer interaction, and safe, professional service.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair furnaces, AC units, heat pumps, condensers, air handlers, and thermostats
- Perform preventive maintenance: cleaning, testing, inspecting system components
- Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, gauges, and combustion analyzers
- Document service findings, parts used, and recommended repairs
- Communicate repair options clearly to customers
- Follow OSHA and company safety procedures
- Assist with installations when needed
- Work with a journeyman technician and coordinate daily assignments
- 1+ year of residential or light commercial HVAC service experience
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair heating and cooling systems
- Mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Proficiency with HVAC tools and diagnostic equipment
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions

- Standard hours:
Monday–Friday, ~7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Busy seasons may reach 60+ hours per week
- On‑call rotation every six weeks (paid)
- Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather, often in tight spaces
- Daily use of hand tools, power tools, gauges, and diagnostic equipment
- Dress code: jeans, work boots, work‑appropriate shirt (company shirts provided)
This is a Permanent position based out of Des Moines, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year.
Workplace TypeThis is a fully onsite position in Des Moines, IA.
