What You Will Do
Johnson Controls Inc. is looking for forward‑thinking talent to support the fast‑growing HVAC business in North America. You will work on light commercial and heavy commercial teams, performing maintenance, repair and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems and partnering with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open‑drive screw chillers. Your goal is to provide the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies, recommend solutions to ensure efficient operation, and provide accurate quotes.
Responsibilities- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial HVAC systems.
- Partner with Journeymen to repair centrifugal, steam turbines, and open‑drive screw chillers.
- Provide the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items.
- Offer recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
- Provide accurate quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
- Member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (UAW‑APPI).
- Minimum 3 years of commercial and/or industrial HVAC mechanical troubleshooting experience.
- Practical work experience in HVAC piping, plumbing, pipe fitting, and mechanical equipment service.
- Experience with rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing.
- Ability to use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drive lines and perform mechanical shaft alignment with dial indicators.
- Willingness to travel 10%–20% for branch customer support.
- Must pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
- Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver's license.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to document problems, causes, and corrective actions.
- Self‑starter with a passion to learn and apply new skills on the job.
- Hourly pay of $45.80, determined by the collective bargaining agreement.
