Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Des Moines, IA. The role offers a stable career with weekly pay and excellent benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
  • Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections.
  • Perform preventive maintenance.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable.
  • Identify root cause of basic failures and perform required repairs.
  • Replace defective components as instructed.
  • Perform facility maintenance duties.
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints.
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and keep electronic documentation.
  • Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).
  • Perform other support duties as required to support operations, such as Service Island support.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred).
  • Basic tools required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work.
  • Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred).
  • Valid Commercial Driver License Class A (preferred).
  • Must obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire.
  • Pass a Ryder drug test.
  • Pass a DOT physical.
  • Pass a Ryder road test.
  • Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
