Position: Operating Engineer 2

Our client, a leader in commercial property management, is seeking an Operating Engineer 2 to join their team. As an Operating Engineer 2, you will be part of the Facilities Maintenance Department supporting the Operations Team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, proactive problem‑solving, and a collaborative attitude, which will align successfully in the organization.

Location: Des Moines, IA

Pay Rate: $30/hr

What's the Job?
  • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and respond to repair work orders on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other installed building systems and equipment
  • Conduct facility inspections and document conditions impacting client occupancy and operations
  • Clean HVAC coils, change filters and belts, troubleshoot issues, and repair building HVAC systems to maintain optimal performance
  • Replace lighting, ballasts, and other fixtures throughout assigned facilities
  • Assist operations teams with maintenance and repair of building equipment and components as directed
What's Needed?
  • High school diploma or equivalent with technical training in building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing commercial building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems including troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and equipment specifications
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as Corrigo
