ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are fundamental duties that an individual who holds the position must perform. This is not an exhaustive list. Other duties, in addition to essential job functions, will be assigned at the discretion of the Maintenance Manager.
- Works with acetylene torches, welders, hand tools, hydraulic and air-powered tools
- May develop specifications from general description of parts of assemblies to be fabricated and draw or sketch device to be made.
- Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
- Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.
- Selects and assigns staff, ensuring equal employment opportunity in hiring and promotion.
- Supervises and assigns the work of maintenance employees.
- Inspects work for completeness.
- Determines material, equipment, and supplies to be used. Transfers equipment and personnel from one project to another as necessary.
- Keeps time cards and other routine records.
- Coordinates or installs, inspects, repairs and maintains the electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related systems in all health department locations.
- Coordinates or inspects, operates and maintains the heating, cooling and ventilation systems (including boiler system) in all health department locations.
- Coordinates renovations of existing facilities and the construction of new facilities.
- Coordinates and inspects major contract work on the electrical, plumbing and mechanical
- Manage the plant preventive maintenance program.
- Function as hands on lead mechanic to trouble shoot and repair equipment.
- Supervise and lead the plant maintenance team
- Perform basic electrical trouble shooting skills.
- Train plant personnel to perform basic maintenance.
- Perform periodic preventive maintenance checks as required.
- Manage spare parts inventory, order parts as needed, and determine inventory and stock levels for spare parts.
- Assist in maintaining maintenance budget
- Must learn filling equipment, printers, material handling equipment, HTSTs systems, CIP systems and other dairy equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair basic single and three phase electrical systems and equipment up to 480 volts.
- PLC programming knowledge and application software is preferred.
- PLC troubleshooting experience preferred.
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS- Working knowledge of basic electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, as well as the use of all shop equipment such as welding and machining equipment
- Prior experience working with unions preferred
- Ability to instruct and supervise employees
- Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, principles, practices, tools and equipment of the maintenance trades.
- Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of mechanical and electrical maintenance.
- Considerable knowledge of the principles of mechanical equipment design and fabrication
- Ability to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with fellow employees and vendors/contractors.
- Ability to install, inspect, repair and maintain the electrical, plumbing and other related systems
- Ability to update inventories and other supplies as needed.
- Ability to inspect, operate and maintain the cooling and the boiler system.
- Ability to understand complex written and oral instructions.
- Thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties.
- Basic electrical maintenance skills required, 600vAC/3/60 a plus.
- Computer skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Self-starter who can succeed with limited supervision
- Detail oriented with proven problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Follow all OSHA and Company safety standards.
- Knowledge of lock out/tag out safety procedures
- Ability to be courteous in difficult situations.
- Ability to operate a forklift to move equipment/machinery
- High School Diploma/GED required;
Trade or technical certification, preferred - Two (2) to four (4) years industrial maintenance experience required in food and beverage industry or dairy environment preferred

- Safe work practices and be able to lift up to 75 pounds or greater at times.
- Must be able to climb and work from ladders at height up to 30 feet and perform tasks at working heights up to 40 feet.
- Bending, squatting and twisting of the body will occur.
