Summary

The Behavioral Health Intervention Services (BHIS) Case Manager, Lead oversees the BHIS program at Orchard Place. 40% of the time is devoted to direct client casework and 60% to managing key operational tasks such as scheduling, treatment planning, and auditing, ensuring smooth program execution across homes, schools, and community settings.

Supervisory Relationship

Reports to the Director of BHIS Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the philosophy, values, commitments, and practices of the Sanctuary model in client, family, and staff interactions.

  • Direct Client Services (40%):
    • Teach and coach clients and families to improve functioning in home and community.
    • Promote skill-building in communication, problem-solving, anger management, and social development.
    • Use evidence-based interventions to address psychological, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive challenges.
    • Develop treatment plans collaboratively with families, monitoring progress toward goals.
    • Maintain client files and documents per agency standards.
    • Communicate regularly with referral sources, families, and stakeholders.
    • Provide services in client homes, schools, and community environments; transport clients when necessary.
  • Program Management and Operations (60%):
    • Schedule and coordinate BHIS caseworkers to optimize staffing and caseload distribution.
    • Assist with development, review, and adjustment of treatment plans.
    • Conduct regular audits of client files and service delivery for compliance and quality improvement.
    • Collaborate with Director and management to communicate updates, identify challenges, and streamline program operations.
    • Support staff development by training new BHIS caseworkers and providing ongoing feedback and coaching.
  • Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist the Director with special assignments and tasks as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
Hours and Remuneration

General work week is 40 hours. Hours may vary based on program needs. Remuneration aligns with education, experience, and training.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum 3‑5 years experience in BHIS or similar casework and a bachelor’s degree in social sciences (or non‑social sciences degree with 2 additional years of experience).

Competencies required:

  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to engage with clients, families, and team members.
  • Experience in scheduling, treatment plan management, and quality assurance.
  • In-depth knowledge of counseling theories and behavioral interventions.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency motor‑vehicle guidelines.
  • Ability to pass orientation, mandatory reporter training, Crisis Prevention Institute training, and additional training within first six months.

Other skills:

  • Reading and interpreting professional journals and regulations.
  • Writing reports, correspondence, and presenting information.
  • Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute rates, ratios, percent, interpret graphs.
  • Reasoning ability: define problems, collect data, establish facts, interpret instructions, handle abstract and concrete variables.
  • Physical demands: occasional physical restraint, walking, standing, and sitting, using hands, reaching.
Work Environment

Periodic exposure to outdoor weather conditions; moderate noise level.
