Sr. Software Engineer

Who we are

Our client is a financial services corporation offering a various suite of products.

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree (preferably in computer science, technology, engineering, math, or related field) with 3+ years of experience, or equivalent experience
• Strong COBOL expertise and hands‑on experience with mainframe systems
• Experience with mainframe platforms such as IBM z/OS, CICS, JCL, DB2, TSO, and VSAM
• Solid understanding of software development life cycles, process optimization, and risk analysis
• Ability to assess legacy systems and design modern, forward‑looking solutions
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues
• Ability to influence technical and strategic decisions with clear reasoning

• Experience with IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz)
• Familiarity with Git Hub and Insomnia
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automation, and Dev Ops practices
• Background in financial services, insurance, or other regulated industries
• Experience with Microsoft Access

• Translate legacy COBOL‑based processes into scalable, distributed solutions
• Analyze processes and life cycles to improve efficiency and reduce risk
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and business teams on modernization efforts
• Mentor team members and support skill development
• Identify and mitigate risks to ensure secure and reliable systems
