Senior Java Software Engineer

Aureon Consulting is actively interviewing candidates on behalf of one of our favorite clients for a Senior Java Engineering opportunity. This role focuses on building and supporting scalable Java based microservices and REST APIs that power enterprise insurance platforms.

You will design and maintain domain driven APIs and persistence layers supporting complex data models and high-volume transactional systems. As a senior contributor, you will lead technical initiatives across teams, helping shape engineering standards, best practices, and solution patterns.

• Design and build scalable REST APIs and backend services
• Own services end to end, from development through production support
• Provide technical leadership on cross team initiatives
• Collaborate with product, business, and engineering partners
• Establish patterns for reliability, performance, security, and observability

• Java with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and Spring Security
• REST API design with OpenAPI/Swagger, pagination, and error handling

• Azure Dev Ops pipelines and CI/CD promotion across DEV to PROD
• Helm, auto scaling, and production container operations

• OAuth 2.0, JWT, Okta
• Secrets management and secure API patterns

• Snowflake or strong SQL background
• Performance tuning, caching, resilience patterns, and observability

• 8+ years of professional Java development experience
• Strong communication, problem solving, and multitasking skills
• Insurance domain experience preferred, particularly within policy-oriented or regulated financial systems
