Job DescriptionStarting Pay: $19.75 per hour with increase after 12 months; union regulated. The Shipping & Receiving Worker processes orders and ships products to customers; unloads all materials and places such in the building. All training will be provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Checks freight for damage; counts freight to match with bill of lading.
- Performs shipment processing, including counting, packaging, weighing and labeling of materials.
- Load the trucks.
- Writes orders and maintains staging area.
- Prepares bill of ladings and other miscellaneous forms, including those for wastepaper trucks.
- Operates a variety of mechanical equipment including forklift, elevator and stretch wrapper.
- Prepares shipping documentation (bill of lading, packing slips, etc.) on any urgent last‑minute shipments.
- Coordinates pickup and deliveries with outside carriers.
- Perform related work as required.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate and percentage and to interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to read ruler.
- Knowledge of the metric system is a plus.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- One (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
