Flatbed Driver – Compensation and Benefits

TMC offers an orientation and flatbed training program for new drivers. Our student driver training program is recognized as one of the best in the country and is one of the few on‑job truck driver training programs approved by the Department of Labor as a certified Heavy Truck Driver Apprenticeship program. Apprentice drivers are paid $650 per week during orientation and OTR training with one of our certified flatbed driver trainers.

Orientation lasts two weeks at one of our training facilities located in Des Moines, Iowa or Columbia, South Carolina. Orientation is followed by five weeks of over-the-road training with a Driver Trainer (four weeks if you have an Automatic Transmission restriction on your Class A CDL). We try to pair you with a trainer that lives within 150 miles of your home so you can enjoy weekends with friends or family.

Some first‑year drivers are earning up to $100,000 per year.
