Job Description

The Yard Worker supports daily yard and warehouse operations by safely moving, staging, loading, and unloading materials using a forklift in both indoor and outdoor environments. This role plays a key part in maintaining an organized yard, preparing materials for customers, and assisting with general production tasks as needed.

• Operate a sit-down forklift to move, stage, and organize materials throughout the yard and facility in both indoor and outdoor areas.
• Work in outdoor yard conditions, including uneven ground and non–climate-controlled environments, while following all safety procedures.
• Load and unload customer trucks and trailers accurately and safely to support efficient operations and customer satisfaction.
• Stage materials for customer pickup, scheduled deliveries, and internal production use.
• Assist with operating a slicing machine used to cut foam materials for sidewalk expansion joints.
• Package and prepare smaller materials and parts for sale or distribution, ensuring items are properly labeled and secured.
• Maintain an orderly, clean, and safe yard and work area by following housekeeping and safety standards.
• Collaborate closely with team members to meet daily production goals and customer service needs.
• Perform general labor, yard work, and material handling tasks as needed to support overall operations.
• Use power tools, saws, and other equipment safely as part of general production and packaging activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support yard, warehouse, and production operations.

• At least 2 years of forklift experience, preferably with sit-down forklifts.
• Proven ability to safely load and unload trucks and trailers using a forklift.
• Experience with general labor and material handling in a yard, warehouse, construction, or similar environment.
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather and on uneven ground.
• Ability to operate basic machinery and power tools safely.
• Strong focus on safety, organization, and maintaining a clean work area.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team and follow instructions.
• Reliability and willingness to assist with a variety of tasks as needed.

• Machine operation experience is a plus.
• Construction or landscaping experience is a plus.
• Experience with yard work and general production environments is beneficial.
• Experience operating slicing machines, saws, or similar cutting equipment is helpful.
• Familiarity with packaging processes and preparing parts or materials for sale or distribution is an advantage.

This is a full-time, on-site role with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional opportunities to start earlier or stay later based on workload and availability. You will work in both indoor warehouse and outdoor yard environments, including areas with uneven ground and non–climate-controlled conditions. The role involves regular forklift operation, material handling, use of power tools and machinery, and general labor in a hands‑on, production‑oriented setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Des Moines, IA.

The pay range for this position is $16.00 – $20.00/hr.
