Overview
Leidos is hiring an Airspace / Aviation Analyst for its NISC IV program. The role is based at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Western Service Center in Des Moines, WA, and involves supporting the review of proposed airspace changes, NAS impact analysis, aviation noise studies, and community outreach.
Responsibilities- Provide subject‑matter expertise by analyzing impacts to current uses of the NAS from proposed airspace changes.
- Offer technical and analytical support for complex airspace issues.
- Analyze flight‑track data and create operational scenarios using airspace reporting and mapping tools.
- Assist with statistical analysis, including trend analysis and root‑cause analysis, and prepare presentations and reports.
- Track airspace documents scheduled for publication or public comment.
- Participate in community involvement on federal projects that involve changes to the NAS.
- Coordinate between the FAA, environmental specialists, and FAA field facilities on formal and informal processes for community involvement.
- Analyze and document noise inquiries from the public, communities, and congressional inquiries.
- Serve as an ATC subject‑matter expert for on‑call duties, including handling VIP movements, relaying key messages, managing NOTAMS, authorizing TFRs, and airspace waivers.
- B.S. degree and 4+ years of relevant experience, or a M.S. degree and 2+ years of relevant experience. Additional experience may substitute for a degree.
- Previous designation as a Certified Professional Controller (CPC).
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents who have resided in the U.S. continuously for the past five years.
- Experience preparing written documents, memos, and briefs in a staff environment.
- Familiarity with FAA organizational structure, policies, and procedures.
- Position requires onsite work in Des Moines, WA.
- Approximately 10% travel.
