Position: World Languages Lead Teacher

World Languages Lead Teacher Summary

The World Language Lead Teacher provides instructional leadership and operational support within the World Language program to ensure high-quality instruction, curricular coherence, and strong student outcomes across all world language offerings. This position bridges classroom teaching and program-level coordination by supporting teachers, facilitating collaboration, assisting with curriculum implementation, and supporting alignment with district and state standards. The World Language Lead Teacher is a certified educator who maintains a partial teaching load while fulfilling key collaborative, instructional, and managerial responsibilities under the direction of the Principal and/or designee.

Performance Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated annually by the Principal and/or designee in accordance with District 207’s certified staff evaluation procedures.

Qualifications
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an appropriate World Language endorsement.
  • Demonstrated expertise in world language pedagogy, proficiency-based instruction, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology systems such as the Student Information System (SIS), assessment platforms, and Google Workspace.
  • Knowledge of ACTFL proficiency guidelines, standards-based grading, and curriculum alignment preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supports and facilitates PLC processes for World Language staff to promote collaboration, instructional alignment, data-informed decision-making, and continuous improvement.
  • Supports evidence-based instructional strategies, including proficiency-based instruction, authentic assessments, and integration of cultural competencies through modeling, coaching, and collaborative planning.
  • Assists with organizing and facilitating department meetings to ensure instructional coherence, vertical and horizontal alignment, and shared instructional practices across languages and levels.
  • Supports the implementation, review, and refinement of world language curriculum, pacing guides, and assessments aligned to district priorities and ACTFL standards.
  • Collaborates with the Principal and/or designee to support course offerings, sequencing, and equitable student access to world language programs.
  • Works with the Principal and/or designee, the Coordinator of Curriculum & Instruction, and the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Innovation to support articulation with feeder and partner districts.
  • Teaches a minimum of one (1) class and a maximum of four (4) classes, or the equivalent, along with one supervisory assignment as determined by program needs.
  • Supports the use of common assessments, proficiency measures, and student performance data to inform instructional decisions and program improvement.
  • Provides support for accurate data entry and reporting related to world language enrollment, course placement, and program tracking within SIS.
  • Coordinates with substitute teachers within the department to ensure continuity of instruction and access to appropriate instructional materials.
  • Assists the Principal and/or designee with additional operational, managerial, and programmatic responsibilities.
  • Other duties as determined by the Administration and/or Board of Education.
