Community Consolidated School District 62 in Des Plaines, Illinois is seeking Substitute Paraeducators for the school year.
Qualifications
- Hold or be eligible for a Paraprofessional license from the Illinois State Board of
Education: - One of the following:
Associate’s degree, 60 semesters of coursework, high school diploma with passing scores on ETS Parapro exam or ACT Workkeys - The ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English and Russian
District 62 Paraeducators
- Work with students and teachers to provide instructional support for meeting instructional program objectives.
- Work with staff as a collaborative member of the instructional team.
- Assist students in toileting and feeding.
- Support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including children with autism.
- Work with students individually or in small groups to review, reinforce, enrich, or expand upon skills or concepts presented by the classroom teacher.
- Assist the classroom teacher in maintaining classroom discipline and alert them to behavioral issues.
- Utilize confidential student information within district guidelines for professional purposes only.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.
District Information
District 62 serves approximately 4,500 students in grades preK-8 across 8 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 1 early learning center, and 1 year-round K-8 school.
Para educator Programs
- The Special Education Co-Taught Program provides academic intervention and instruction in general education settings for students with specific needs.
- The Resource Program offers instruction aligned with general education outcomes for students requiring special education support.
- The Instructional Program provides differentiated academic instruction based on Illinois Learning Standards.
- The Behavioral and Emotional Supported Teaching (BEST) Program supports students with behavioral challenges.
- The Educational Life Skills (ELS) Program focuses on students with mild to severe cognitive abilities requiring adapted curricula.
Hours and Compensation
Substitute Paraeducators work 6.5 hours daily at $15 per hour.
