Adjunct Faculty–ECE 257 – Practicum 1 Clinical Supervisor. The Early Childhood Education Department seeks a practicum clinical supervisor to mentor, guide, and evaluate teacher candidates during their capstone, semester‑long in‑classroom experience. The role connects the department and field placement sites, ensuring that practicum students apply theoretical knowledge and develop professional teaching competencies.

• Mentor and coach student teachers.
• Conduct regular observations of student teachers in early childhood settings (birth to kindergarten).
• Provide timely, constructive, individualized feedback on lesson planning, instructional strategies, classroom management, and interactions with young children.
• Support student teachers in reflecting on practice, documenting their work, and growing professional skills.
• Evaluate performance through formal, data‑based evaluations (mid‑term and final) using professional teaching standards.
• Maintain clear records of student performance and evaluation results.
• Be available to work weekday, daytime mornings and have personal transportation.

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and a minimum of 2,000 hours (1 year) of work experience with children.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field.
• Current Illinois Professional Educator Licensure with Early Childhood Endorsement.
• 5+ years of ECE teaching experience in a DCFS‑licensed child‑care setting or a public school PK program.
• Familiarity with Illinois Early Learning Standards.
• Community college teaching experience.

Part‑time faculty are paid on a lecture hour equivalents (LHE) basis. For the 2025–26 academic year, rates are $1,221/LHE for faculty without doctorates and $1,294/LHE for faculty with doctorates. Faculty advance salary steps after successful completion of two semesters teaching 3+ LHEs each. Positions are offered semester‑by‑semester, with expectations for course completion once assigned.
