The principal provides leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills that will promote the educational development of each student. The principal reports directly to the superintendent. The principal is responsible for the implementation and execution of educational and support programs; the selection, and evaluation of highly qualified staff; the development and administration of the building budget; the requisitioning of necessary equipment and materials;
the maintenance of the building; and the use of the building during school hours.
The primary responsibility of the principal shall be the improvement of instruction. A majority of the principal's time shall be invested in curriculum and staff development through formal and informal activities, establishing clear lines of communication regarding the school's goals, accomplishments, practices and policies with teachers, parents, and the school community.
The principal is a member of the school district leadership team. Therefore, the principal is responsible for district-wide functions assigned by the superintendent.
Qualifications
The principal must be of good character and of unquestionable morals and integrity. The principal shall have the experience and skills necessary to work effectively with the learning community, the district leadership team, students, parents, and the community. The principal shall demonstrate skill in building consensus among stakeholders.
* Previous leadership experience as a Principal or Assistant Principal required.
* Experience as a middle school teacher, Assistant Principal or Principal strongly preferred.
* Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Administrative or Principal endorsement required.
* Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish is preferred.
Salary/Benefits
District 62 offers an excellent compensation and benefits package. This is an 11-month, 224-day position. The salary for this position is $110,000 - $115,000 annually.
