Location:

Des Plaines, IL (Chicago area). Salary: $125,000–$155,000.

The Pharmacist in Charge oversees and leads the pharmacy team, managing daily operations, dispensing prescription medication, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations for a long‑term care pharmacy.

• Maintain workflow, monitor productivity, and ensure run times are met.
• Coordinate the daily pharmacist process, including dispensing, scheduling, and inquiries via Polaris Direct and email.
• Provide triage customer service and resolve issues with accurate information.
• Work with compliance to ensure proper follow‑up on verbal CIIs and DEA reporting when necessary.
• Respond to drug‑related questions from internal staff and external customers.
• Ensure timely deliveries, manage backorders, verify legitimacy, and seek alternatives.
• Confirm Prepack RPH checks and correct workflow.
• Ensure pharmacists receive proper training on policies and procedures.
• Maintain working knowledge of facility policies and procedures related to pharmacy services.
• Follow all applicable regulations including HIPAA.
• Other duties as assigned; duties may vary with business needs.

• Accurate and efficient dispensing of prescription medications.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (English).
• Independent and team work, strong organizational, customer‑service, and time‑management skills; able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Sound judgment and maturity.

• Current pharmacist license in good standing in Illinois or Indiana.
• Management experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or Pharm.
  
  D. from an accredited pharmacy school.
• Experience in long‑term care or post‑acute care settings; at least 2 years recent experience preferred.
• Knowledge of intravenous admixture services desirable.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

• May require sitting or standing 7–10 hours per day.
• Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, walking.
• May need to work extended hours; lift up to 30 pounds.
• Work environment involves 24‑hour shifts; schedules may change.
